LinkedIn Evaluation & Action Workshop

Evaluate your live profile. Improve what recruiters see. Build real professional connections. Leave with a 30-day action plan.

You leave with

A profile that makes your direction visible

Keep LinkedIn and your CV open. Every answer must be based on what is visible now—not what you intend to add later.

01

Evaluate

Begin with evidence, not confidence

The six-second partner test

Exchange profiles. After six seconds, can your partner identify your target role, relevant capability and proof?

Tick a box only when the statement is clearly true on your current profile. Each tick = 1 point.

Improve

Rewrite the sections that carry your professional meaning

Headline · your first search asset

Current identity | Target role | Relevant skills or keywords | Genuine proof

Weak

Passionate MBA student seeking opportunities in a reputed organisation.

Stronger

MBA Candidate, FIIB | Aspiring Brand Manager | Consumer Research & Campaign Strategy | D2C Marketing Intern

About · tell me about yourself

Hook → Story → Value and proof → Exact role, industry or networking ask

Weak

I am a result-oriented MBA student with a passion for marketing and a strong academic background.

Stronger

Three years into retail banking, I kept asking why customers choose one brand when the product is identical. That question brought me to brand strategy…

Experience · show impact, not a job description

Action + Method + Result, output or significance. Use a number only when it is true and defensible.

Weak

Responsible for managing social media accounts for the brand.

Stronger

Redesigned the content calendar using engagement data, increasing organic reach by 12% over three months.

Skills and Featured completion check

Recruiter searches and profile proof extend beyond the five scored sections.

03

Re-evaluate

Score only what you actually changed

Complete this after making the changes on LinkedIn. Photo and banner changes may be completed within 48 hours.

04

Connect

Write to real people—not imaginary audiences

What works: Follow first · Find common ground · Keep it short and specific · Ask for a conversation, not a job · Follow up once after seven days.
Avoid: pitching immediately, “Hope you are doing well” with nothing specific, attaching a CV, asking about openings, mass copy-paste, next-day follow-ups and beginning with yourself.

Connection request · 300 characters

0/300

InMail · non-connection

Direct message · existing connection

Use the network you already have

Search the FIIB Alumni tab by target company or function. Prefer alumni 2–5 years out and people who have posted recently.

05

Create

Build visibility before you need it

Choose one credible starting point: a class learning, industry observation, project or win, or learning from a mentor. Anchor it in your FIIB management-student identity and add your own insight.

Credibility check: Link industry news to a concept, reflect on a case or project, share one real takeaway, and tag FIIB, faculty or guests only when genuinely relevant. You do not need to go viral; you need to stay useful and visible to the right people.
